Investigating Empirical Mode Decomposition in the Parameter Estimation of a Three-Section Winding Model

Parameter estimation represents an important aspect of modeling electromagnetic systems, and a wide range parameter strategies has been explored in literature. Most methodologies make use either time-domain or frequency-domain responses as measured from the terminals device under test. Very limited research has, however, conducted into exploring modal decomposition on waveforms for applications. In this paper, Empirical Mode Decomposition estimating parameters three-section lumped transformer model is explored. A novel approach proposed to define optimization cost function terms intrinsic modes simulated waveforms. The results are compared with obtained using classical approaches. It shown through impulse response test that weighting Inferred presented work offers advantages accurately representing target transfer dynamics can assist interpreting various dynamic associated model.
